Youth Leadership Conference Request for Student-Led Workshops

Youth Leadership Conference
Hosted by the Boston Arts Academy

Theme: “Art is Action”

Who: All 9-12th grade students who are currently enrolled in a Boston Public High School

What: To complete the enclosed application for a workshop that will be presented at the 2009 Youth Leadership Conference. The workshop can be a demonstration of creative ways of using art for social change and social justice.

When: Friday, March 13, 2009 at Mass College of Art & Design (8:30am – 2:00 pm)

Some examples of possible workshop topics include:

• Provocative Playwriting
• What is Community Art?
• Revolucionario Arte
• Music for social change
• Comic Books: low art for high impact
• Self-reflection and expression
• The power of design and social justice

All workshops must be developed and facilitated by students. Workshops should be 45 minutes in length. You must find a teacher to serve as your “coach” to help you prepare for this workshop
