TechMission Youth Academy Web Designer Summer Job DescriptionThe Youth Technology Assistant is a part-time summer position that assists with web design, media production and administrative areas of TechMission which is a national urban ministry headquartered in Codman Square in Dorchester. The Youth Technology Assistant reports to the TechMission Youth Academy Director and may perform any of the following duties:
- Developing Websites for nonprofits and ministries using the Drupal content management system and web pages using Dreamweaver
- Assisting with media production needs of TechMission which may include converting/editing tapes & CD’s to digital format, converting/editing presentations into Webcasts, duplicating CD/DVD’s and posting content to TechMission Websites.
- Assisting with administrative needs of TechMission including assembling mailings, data entry, cleaning the office or any other administrative needs at TechMission
- Reading and learning on topics assigned by the TechMission Youth Academy Director including attending all required trainings.
- Attending weekly (or bi-weekly) trainings, group discussions, etc.
- Meeting regularly with a mentor.
- Showing a commitment to growing in TechMission’s values.
Requirements: Applicants must be ages 14-17. Applicants should be tech-savvy. Previous skills in Web design, graphics design or computer programming is desired, but not required. As this is a jobs program for urban youth from lower-income families, youth must be eligible for free school lunch to apply for this position.
